Cold in Kerry

On Thursday morning we headed north out of Killarney.
The weather has definitely taken a turn for the worse with squally rain and hail showers, and snow on the tops of the mountains.
So we followed the old military road in heavy rain for about 26km in pretty much a straight line from Killarney to Tralee. Our pace wasn't fast - it took us about 7 hours - but we have both been having troubles with foot and back pain, made worse by it being too cold to stop and rest on the way. All in all it made for a pretty gruelling day out on tarmac!
Yesterday was much better, following small lanes on the side of a line of hills up to Listowel. There were sunny spells in between the showers, a few donkeys to say hello to, and some interesting abandoned cottages. And a great B&B in Listowel - tea and scones on arrival, we could get used to this!
